Jo Walker1.jpg  The Riviera International Singers' musical director is Jo Walker.

Born in the UK, Jo obtained a degree in musicology with the Open University.  She has been resident on the Côte d'Azur since 1992 and has been actively involved in the local music scene since her arrival, studying singing with Lanceford Roberts and Agnes Chauvot.

Jo has been a member of several local choirs including Ensemble Vocal Syrinx, where she served as president for two years, under the direction of Errol Girdlestone, the Ensemble Vocal Universitaire de Nice with Alain Joutard and Musique Cordiale, covering a diverse range of choral repertoire as well as occasional professional engagements in opera and operetta.

Between 1996 and 2008 Jo was Head of Music at the International School of Nice and also ran a successful studio of private singing and piano students. During this time Jo worked as musical director on the ISN annual Musicals; these became something of a tradition, where the standard achieved was far in excess of that usually associated with school productions.  Shows performed included Little Shop of Horrors, Blood Brothers, Annie, Sweet Charity and Chicago. She has recently moved to the International School of Monaco, again teaching music to all age groups.

Jo is also the representative in Nice and South East France for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music who run music examinations for all instruments and voice for adults and children.

Jo's main musical interest lies in the area of choral singing with choirs of all ages and standards.
