RIS - the English Choir of the French Riviera

In 1987 Beryl Arnould formed a choir which, over the following sixteen years, entertained thousands of people and became a focal point of many expats' Christmases in Valbonne and the surrounding area.  Beryl retired in 2003 and the Riviera International Singers was formed to take over where she had left off.

We are proud that our current membership includes, not only some who performed with Beryl at the very beginning, but also some for whom this is the very first season. Our age range spans over half a century with our youngest member looking forward to her 20th birthday in 2009. We are a multinational group, with people from all walks of life, with many different mother tongues, though our 'working' language is English.

The make up of the choir reflects our philosophy of maintaining traditional roots and high musical standards whilst experimenting with new musical styles. Our repertoire runs from Bach to the Beatles, Elvis to Enya and Mozart to Muddy Waters with Gospel, Jazz, Folk and traditional Christmas music in between.

Our concert profits are donated to charity and over the past two decades, thousands of euros have been given to various causes.  We are greatly appreciative of the generosity of our audiences and sponsors.
